New Zealand has long been famous for housing many of nature’s wonders. It is a country full of spectacular colours, some of the most well-known being the bright pinkish lupins, the pure white snow that covers Mt. Cook and the clear blue waters of Lake Tekapo.
While each season is spectacular in its own way, New Zealand is particularly captivating in Autumn. Known to have vast fields of green and magnificent mountains at every corner, it is truly a sight to behold when the refreshing green changes to a glorious mixture of orange and red.

Late March: A Warm Welcome
The start of Autumn is unmistakable as the temperature starts to cool and speckles of yellow can be seen amidst lush green leaves. This window usually only lasts a short period of time before the green disappears completely.
Early April: The Golden Age
The period just before the peak is when the grand foliage turns into a majestic golden and stays that way for about a week. Enjoy a stroll with your significant other on your very own “red carpet” as the leaves start falling and paving the roads in a bed of gold.
Mid April: Crimson Peak
The most anticipated period of Autumn, when the leaves start turning into a deep red. There is nothing that warms our hearts more than the luscious tones of Autumn at its finest. These spots of red add a dash of colour to your photos and exude passion in every shot.
Late April: Flawless Finale
As the peak of Autumn comes to an end and all the leaves have fallen, the enchanting branches form the perfect silhouette that creates an alluring backdrop for your pictures. There is nothing quite as enchanting as the end of this beautiful season.
Be warned that the warm colours of Autumn do not come naturally to New Zealand as most of their trees are evergreen. However, rest assured that our expert photography team are always aware of the best locations to capture the brilliance of fall.
