1. Sign up for Airline Newsletters
What better way to stay informed of promotions than to have the airlines themselves to email you whenever they have a promotion? By signing up for airlines’ newsletter ensures that you stay up to date with all their latest promotion. As an added benefit, you are automatically signed up for their reward program as well. This will help you to clock your miles.
2. Google your flights
Know which airlines fly to your destination? Try this cool feature by Google, Flights. Simply pick the arrival and departure destination, and voila Google will then provide a list of airlines which flies to the destination, as well as the day and time and price!
I love Google Flights because it’s fast and easy to quickly narrow down potential air tickets to buy!
3. Compare all price options
There are many platforms out there to search for cheap air tickets, such as Skyscanner, Kayak. Personally, I have been using ITA Matrix to check the ticket prices. ITA Matrix allows you to search across multiple airlines. There is also a function to allow you to search by month. So at a glance, you can view the cheapest price on a day by day basis. However, with all these features, ITA Matrix has it downside as well, that is you are unable to make a booking directly with the site.
4. Wait for Promotions
If the price doesn’t tempt you, the waiting has started. Now all you have to do is to wait for a promotion. Notable days for Singapore budget airlines are: Tuesday Morning Glory by Scoot. Friday Frenzy by JetStar. Make sure at this point in time, you know the dates as well as location of where you want to go. Tickets at this prices get snapped up really fast!
Tips: If you are a student, or your working schedule is flexible, book on a weekday, better chances of getting cheaper tickets.
5. Go Incognito
When shopping for your fares, go in incognito or private browsing mode. Yes. It is troublesome to input your dates all over again. But if its helps to get cheaper air tickets, why not?
